Orthotics in Finchley
Why get moulded orthotics?
Foot pain can be really debilitating, particularly as in order to get to where we need to go, we need to walk. Whether it’s stubborn plantar fasciits or an achilles tendinopathy, it can really life changing, preventing us from doing any of the things we want to do.
Conditions orthortics can be good for:
- Plantar fasciitis
- Achilles tendinopathy
- Posterior tibialis tendinopathy
- Heel spurs

Patient centred care is at the heart of how we practice, therefore you can be assured that you will get a treatment that is tailored to you.
After our osteopath or physiotherapist has taken a case history and performed an examination, we will then discuss with you our findings and then explain whether or not we feel orthotics are the right approach for you.
If it is, then we will provide you with moulded orthotics to take away with you, ensuring that they’re shaped precisely for your feet.

Shockwave with Orthotics
For the vast majority of patients who need orthotics, shockwave is a part of the treatment programme. This is because it’s important to address the underlying condition, which for a lot of patients involves the various tendons of the foot and ankle.
Frequently Asked Questions About orthotics at our clinic:
Q: What are custom orthotics and who needs them?
A: Custom orthotics are specially moulded shoe insoles designed to support and correct the way your foot works. They can be helpful for people with plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, heel spurs, flat feet, and other conditions where foot mechanics are contributing to pain. At Compass Health Clinic, we assess whether orthotics are right for you as part of a full examination — we will not recommend them unless we believe they will genuinely help. |
Q: How are your orthotics made?
A: After a thorough case history and examination, we take a precise mould of your feet and create orthotics that are shaped specifically for you. Unlike generic shop-bought insoles, custom moulded orthotics are designed to address your individual foot mechanics and the specific condition we are treating. You take them away on the day of your appointment. |
Q: Are orthotics a permanent solution or a temporary fix?
A: It depends on the condition. For some people, orthotics provide long-term support that they continue to use. For others, orthotics are used alongside rehabilitation exercises to provide relief while the underlying problem heals, and they can be gradually reduced over time. We will always combine orthotics with appropriate treatment and exercise advice, because relying on orthotics alone is rarely the best long-term strategy. |
